INSTITUTIONAL BUILDINGS
Institutional buildings are infrastructure of a civilized society. They serve the basic needs of the citizens yet reflect the advancement of community they are in. We have all used them, granted or not, in such an intimate way with our daily life that it could make us feel completely lost without them.
The institutional project we listed here are either schools or healthcare facilities. They are totally different animals in terms of program functions and the people they serve. What they have in common is the level of details in the design. A school will have strict requirements in order to meet guidelines of public funding and budget, while a hospital may go through a lengthy and vigorous process just to make sure medical procedures are not compromised and potential liabilities are minimized. In either case, they represent the highest level of professionalism in building design.
